Jericho Tennis Club is a private recreational club located on the shores of Jericho Beach in Vancouver’s Point Grey neighbourhood. Our Club serves approximately 3,000 members and offers tennis, squash, fitness, recreation, and food & beverage in a beautiful waterfront setting.
We are seeking a Maintenance Worker 1 to join our Facilities team. This is an entry-level role responsible for helping maintain the cleanliness, readiness, and presentation of our Club facilities while supporting the daily operations that allow members to enjoy an exceptional experience.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in keeping spaces well maintained, and is interested in developing skills in facility operations and building maintenance.
Position Summary
Maintenance Worker 1 employees are responsible for supporting the day-to-day upkeep of the Club’s facilities. The role focuses on housekeeping, room setup, court preparation, and assisting the maintenance team with routine operational tasks.
Maintenance Worker 1 is the first step in the Club’s facilities career pathway, with opportunities to develop additional skills and progress to Maintenance Worker 2 and 3 positions through training and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the Club
- Prepare tennis courts and recreational spaces for member use
- Assist with event and room setups and teardowns
- Support seasonal activities and operational needs
- Receive and move deliveries and supplies within the facility
- Assist with stocking and distribution of cleaning materials and supplies
- Respond to service requests from staff and members
- Maintain safe working conditions and follow all safety procedures
- Provide courteous and helpful service to members and staff
Qualifications
- Experience in cleaning, facilities, hospitality, or maintenance environments is an asset
- Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, bending, standing)
- Strong attention to detail
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to shift between tasks and respond to changing priorities
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
Working Conditions
- Work may take place throughout the Club’s indoor and outdoor spaces
- Shifts may range from early mornings to late evenings depending on operational needs
- Ability to lift to approximately 50 lbs
