The City of Richmond is looking for two skilled and collaborative Attendance Support Advisors to help strengthen employee wellness and workplace presence across the organization.
Reporting to the Manager, Health, Safety and Wellness, you’ll play a key role in delivering our Attendance Support Program—providing practical coaching, data-driven insights, and compassionate, early intervention to support employees and leaders. This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly influence how we support our people in a fair, consistent, and proactive way.
Working closely with leaders, HR, Disability Management, Occupational Health & Safety, and union partners, you’ll help ensure attendance support practices are applied thoughtfully, aligned with legislation and collective agreements, and focused on positive outcomes.
###Key Responsibilities
- Coach leaders through attendance support conversations, documentation, and follow-up in a non-disciplinary framework
- Analyze attendance trends and develop insights to identify early intervention opportunities and systemic issues
- Support consistent program delivery through tools, templates, and clear guidance
- Partner with Disability Management and OH&S on accommodations, return-to-work planning, and referrals
- Collaborate with HR and union partners to ensure a fair and respectful approach
- Contribute to program improvements through training, communication, and continuous enhancement
###Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience in attendance management, disability/leave processes, accommodations, and/or labour relations—ideally in a unionized, public sector environment
- Strong understanding of relevant BC legislation (e.g., Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, WorkSafeBC/Workers Compensation Act, Labour Relations Code, FOIPPA)
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Confidence coaching leaders and navigating complex, sensitive conversations with sound judgement
- A proactive, collaborative approach with a focus on early support and practical solutions
###Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health, Disability Management, Business/Public Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Professional designations such as CDMP, CPHR, CRSP, or CRST are considered assets
