OVERVIEW:
Under the direction and supervision of the Team Manager, Life and Disability Services, the Claims Adjudicator is responsible for adjudicating claims on a daily basis, in accordance with the required standards, policies and procedures of the department.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Adjudicates and assess claims, ensuring that proper application of rules and regulations outlined in the group policy and the Canadian Life and Health Association (CLHIA) are followed.
- Adjudicate benefit eligibility for payment.
- Updates various databases.
- Communicates with various internal departments such Group Underwriting, Medical Underwriting, Group Administration, Group Sales, and Individual Products, among others to provide and share information regarding claim activities.
- Responsible for both verbal and written communication with various external stakeholders and customers throughout the claiming process.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
- Related post-secondary education and/or work experience.
- Must possess excellent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and be able to assess priorities in a confident manner.
- Must be flexible, innovative, and independent.
- Must work effectively with fellow employees and staff from other departments in a team focused atmosphere.
- Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge in life insurance and experience in life and disability claims management would be an asset.
- Experience or knowledge with Fineos is an asset.
This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is selected.
