An exciting Regular Full-Time opportunity exists for a Manager, Corporate Financial Planning & Transformation, to join the Finance Department. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for corporate-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance management across Hospital Operations and Academics.
The Manager, Corporate Financial Planning & Transformation is a leadership role responsible for directing and coordinating corporate financial planning and analysis across Hospital Operations and Academics. This includes oversight of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical processes to support strategic decision-making, operational optimization, innovation, and organizational financial stability.
The Manager leads a team of five (5) and partners closely with clinical and non-clinical leaders to provide sound judgment, professional expertise, and exceptional client service while driving the modernization of financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis through automation, advanced modelling, and improved use of planning and reporting tools.
Summary Of Duties, But Not Limited To
- Lead the development of the annual operating budget, multi-year operating plans, and corporate financial forecasts for Hospital Operations and Academics, including scenario and risk analysis.
- Oversee financial performance management, ensuring timely, accurate, and value-added reporting and advisory support to programs
- Provide oversight and direction to Business Partners to ensure consistent, high-quality financial planning and analysis support to clients, leveraging an Integrated Consultancy by collaborating with cross-functional teams including Human Resources and Decision Support.
- Provide strategic financial support for business cases, new models of service, funding proposals, and Ministry or external reporting requests
- Financial oversight for Academics, including Research and Education grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with granting agency requirements and hospital policies
- Oversee grant budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and proactive management of financial risks
- Monitor academic grant activity and growth at a corporate level and assess impacts on operations and long-term financial sustainability
- Oversee effective maintenance and use of the budget & reporting system (Questica)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Managers, Directors, VPs, Scientists, and internal partners, providing trusted financial advice and challenging leaders to identify efficiencies
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, setting clear expectations, supporting professional development, and promoting a strong client-service culture
- Participate in corporate initiatives and special projects, including system implementations and transformation initiatives, as assigned
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- CPA designation (CMA, CGA, CA) or Masters in a related field preferred
- Minimum (10) years’ experience in financial planning or financial advisory role, preferably as a manager and in a healthcare or public sector setting.
- Strong knowledge of hospital operations, healthcare funding trends, and Ministry frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and system/process implementations
- Strong systems and technical acumen, with experience driving finance process automation, system optimization, and adoption of technology-enable solutions
- Knowledge and experience with research grant activity, including contract/grant financial review and reporting requirements
- Strong judgement to manage projects of varying size and complexity
- Comfortable leading through ambiguity and enabling change
- Strong analytical ability with attention to detail and an enterprise “big picture” mindset
- Advanced Excel skills; exposure to SAP and Questica is an asset
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated alignment with WCH vision, mission, and values; strong work and attendance record required
- Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
