Job Summary Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Specialist is a professional who completes administrative duties for the human resources department of an organization. They assist HR Business Partners with offer letters, onboarding process, maintaining employee records, aid with payroll processing, and provide administrative support to all employees. They perform background checks for the candidates to verify whether a potential candidate’s previous work history is authentic and aligns with the required needs. Moreover, they conduct employee orientations and company visits, so they are aware of the workplace’s environment and ethics. The ideal candidate will bring strong working knowledge of HR practices, employment legislation, and hands-on experience supporting a variety of HR functions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries, providing guidance and support to employees and managers.
- Manage employee files, HRIS systems, and ensure compliance with all provincial federal employment legislation.
- Assist with all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
- Assist with the recruitment process by performing reference and background checks and issuing employment contracts.
- Administering or assisting with the new hire process.
- Support employees when human resources issues arise with efficient problem-solving, including answering employee requests
- Conduct 30-day check-in and exit interviews
- Assist with performance management procedures.
- Assist with addressing employee concerns, liaising between management and staff.
- Creating and coordinating internal and external communications to support HR initiatives:
- Coordinate training sessions and seminars.
- Perform orientations and update records of new staff.
- Assist with payroll and ad-hoc HR projects.
- Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practice.
- Support other assigned functions.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience as an HR specialist or a junior role
- Bachelor of Human Resources Management Degree
- Certified human resources specialist with a certificate in HR.
- Exposure to Labor Law and employment equity regulations.
- Effective HR administration and people management skills.
- Ability to work in a challenging workspace
- Positive attitude towards challenges and excellent problem-solving skills
- Complete understanding of HR digital tools
- Exposure to payroll practices.
- Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
- Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- UKG experience an asset
The salary range is $50,000 to $80,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data. The base salary is just one component of Ainsworth’s total compensation package, which also includes additional rewards and benefits such as short-term incentives and health insurance, among others.
