About the role

Manulife's Fund Events team is seeking a dynamic Manager to support the GWAM Canada business. In this role, you will provide expert operational support to ensure the successful implementation of various initiatives impacting Canadian Wealth Operations. This position requires in-depth knowledge of fund operations and accounting in Canada and North America, a strong ability to cultivate relationships with stakeholders, and excellent analytical skills alongside innovative thinking. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include interacting with various business areas to comprehend the risk, financial, and accounting impacts of business processes to best support stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to learn, develop, and excel within a team that values client satisfaction, performance, collaboration, and innovation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support the implementation of Canadian Operations projects and initiatives, including post-implementation support.
  • Ensure process improvement projects are thoroughly documented and adhere to best practices.
  • Identify operational or business risks associated with initiative implementation and communicate them to leadership.
  • Maintain strong relationships with both internal and external business partners and stakeholders.
  • Utilize your knowledge and expertise to communicate risks and impacts to company operations and downstream processes.
  • Ensure all fund system setups align with project requirements.
  • Coordinate project-related tasks and activities with internal and external teams.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand the scope, requirements, and impact of requests.
  • Liaise and communicate project requirements to custodians and valuation agents.
  • Create impact assessments, identify risks, and suggest mitigation strategies where applicable.
  • Review operating models and develop appropriate workflows.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on implementation strategies.
  • Develop tools, practices, and controls to increase operational efficiency and information quality.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies for each initiative.

Required Qualifications:

  • Self-starter with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Highly organized.
  • Over 7 years of experience in the financial industry, with relevant experience.
  • Experience and knowledge in fund accounting and back-office operations.
  • Solid understanding of the financial services industry, investment funds, insurance funds and investment securities products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University degree, preferably in accounting or finance, CPA or CFA designation is an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Quebec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

Salary range is expected to be between

$83,250.00 CAD - $149,850.00 CAD
