Job Summary:

Join Function Software’s Elevate Initiative Team as a UX/UI Designer, where you’ll play a leading role in designing both enhancements to our current interface and a brand-new product module. This is a 6 month contract role with the opportunity for additional 6 month extension. You’ll be working end-to-end on everything from workflows to visual design to design system documentation, with a high degree of creative ownership.

You'll report to and work closely with our Innovation Manager, and collaborate directly with engineering and product stakeholders. Your work will span:

Improving and extending features in the current UI (while staying true to existing patterns and systems).

Designing a new, standalone module with its own visual identity. Aligned with the core system, but with room for innovation.

Developing a component library and visual design language that can scale beyond the module itself.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the UX of a new product line from the ground up while contributing to a system used every day by creative professionals like yourself. You’ll participate in user feedback loops, contribute to Special Interest Group workshops, and help transform insights into thoughtful, intuitive design.

Responsibilities:

• Design enhancements to existing UI components and workflows, improving clarity, usability, and efficiency
• Lead the UX and visual design of a new product module, from early concepts to final polish
• Establish a visual identity for the new module that complements and extends our existing design language
• Create high-fidelity mockups, interaction specs, and prototypes for both web and responsive layouts
• Define and document a design system for the new module: component libraries, typography, colors, etc.
• Collaborate closely with developers to ensure design quality and consistency during implementation
• Participate in user research sessions, stakeholder workshops, and testing cycles
• Bring strong UX thinking to complex systems involving customization, data inputs, and interactive reporting
• Iterate quickly and effectively based on feedback, shifting requirements, or evolving product goals

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in product/UX/UI design (startup or SaaS experience a plus)
• A strong portfolio demonstrating clean visual design, thoughtful UX solutions, and systems thinking
• Experience designing within existing UI frameworks and systems, with a good eye for consistency
• Ability to lead the creation of new visual languages and pattern libraries from scratch
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage feedback and deadlines independently
• Passion for solving user problems and designing clean, usable, and scalable interfaces

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with interactive data visualization and dashboard design
• Familiarity with Figma
• Prior work on systems with heavy form inputs, reporting, or complex user flows
• Comfort participating in or facilitating user research
• Working knowledge of front-end implementation constraints (you don’t need to code, but should design with devs in mind)
