Job Description

TITLE:

Critical Facility Operator – 12HR Night Shift (7pm – 7am on a rotating 4 day / 3 day per week schedule)

LOCATION:

Cambridge, ON Canada

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the operations team, under the supervision of the Critical Facilities Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the Night Shift Data Center Technician include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate, conduct or assist with all preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance activities, including those activities performed by Ascent’s Clients or Vendor staff

  • Perform general maintenance/housekeeping duties (such as mopping, painting, caulking and other minor building repairs) to maintain a clean work environment and improve aesthetics of the facility

  • Oversee Client and Vendor staff during contracted maintenance of buildings and grounds

  • Perform basic initial troubleshooting to mechanical and infrastructural systems, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, life safety systems, security systems, roofs, drains, shop equipment, emergency power systems, and systems furniture

  • Routinely inspect buildings, space, grounds and/or equipment regularly for problematic or unsafe conditions

  • Perform and oversee general and preventative maintenance tasks including equipment checks, equipment performance monitoring, cleaning, lubrication and service of a wide variety of components/devices

  • Coordinate, conduct or assist with facility renovations, upgrades, and build-outs including overseeing vendors

  • Operate and monitor site Building Management Systems

  • Support overall site operation of the data center facility

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Good communication and organizational skills are required
  • Proficiency with basic operations of a computer including knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook required
  • “Self-starter” with a positive attitude

The following skills will be considered an asset:

  • Technical, vocational or on-the-job training in the following areas: Electrical, HVAC, mechanical, building or process controls
  • Maintenance experience in 24x7 and/or critical support role
  • Knowledge of use and care of tools and equipment used in facilities and/or grounds maintenance
  • Knowledge of building codes

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Required to maintain high level of facility cleanliness and equipment reliability which will require attention to detail and high levels of accuracy

  • Night Shifts are 12 hours 7pm to 7am and rotate over a 2 week schedule

    • Week 1 – Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
    • Week 2 – Wednesday, Thursday
  • Walking and/or standing for long periods of time will be required

  • Bending, stooping, and lifting equipment may be required
