About the role

Itec has partnered with an industry-leading Tier 1 automotive supplier specializing in CNC machining and assembly of critical vehicle components. They deliver high volume, high quality parts to OEM programs and continuously invest in process excellence, automation and cost competitiveness.

The Manufacturing Engineer will drive process improvement, cost reduction, CAPEX delivery and continuous improvement across CNC machining and assembly operations. You will lead engineering projects from identification through implementation, collaborate with production, quality and maintenance, and ensure robust, repeatable processes that meet automotive standards.

Key Responsibilities Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve throughput and increase first?pass yield across machining and assembly lines. Identify process inefficiencies using data analysis, Gemba, time studies and root?cause tools; develop and implement corrective actions. Manage CAPEX projects: develop scope, define requirements, prepare cost estimates, work with vendors, oversee installation and validate performance during commissioning. Design and optimize manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures and work instructions for CNC machining and assembly to ensure manufacturability and quality. Implement and maintain standard work, visual controls, 5S and cellular manufacturing where applicable. Use Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (Kaizen, PDCA, DMAIC) to lead improvement events and mentor production teams. Collaborate with Quality to support PFMEA, control plans, SPC implementation and measurement system analyses. Develop process documentation: cycle time studies, SOPs, process capability studies and training materials. Support problem solving for line stoppages, scrap reduction and supplier quality issues; lead 8D and root cause investigations. Track and report KPIs (OEE, cycle time, FPY, scrap, cost savings) and present progress to leadership. Support new product introductions and program launches—conduct process validation, run off, and capacity planning.

Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or related Engineering discipline. 3–7+ years manufacturing engineering experience in automotive or high?volume machining/assembly environments. Proven track record delivering process improvements, cost reductions and CAPEX projects in CNC machining and/or assembly. Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, fixtures, GD&T and assembly best practices. Hands?on experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools; Green Belt preferred. Experience with PLC/process automation, robotic cell integration and industrial controls is an asset. Proficiency in data analysis and process modelling (Minitab, Excel, SPC tools) and familiarity with CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) for tooling/fixture work. Knowledge of IATF 16949 / automotive quality systems and APQP/PPAP processes. Excellent problem?solving skills and experience leading cross?functional teams.

Location: Cambridge, ON Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000
