About the role
The Data Governance Data Analyst will play a critical role in supporting Toromont Cat’s data governance and transformation strategy by ensuring top levels of data quality, usability, and security. The ideal candidate will be proficient in data mining, cleansing, transformation, modeling and visualization, and strongly skilled in metadata management, SQL, and data lineage to help drive innovation and strategic decision-making across the organization.

Key Accountabilities
- Gather and organize data from various sources into structured databases.
- Collect, analyze, interpret, and transform complex data sets using tools such as excel, SQL, Python, Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional business stakeholders across IT, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Legal and Executive Leadership to define data requirements and ensure data quality, accuracy and consistency for analysis and business use.
- Manage ad hoc data quality requests.
- Participate in the development of automated data quality checks and data observability frameworks.
- Create and maintain documentation for data flows, mappings, and business rules.
- Support data governance and metadata management practices using Microsoft Purview or similar tools.
- Present data-driven insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders to guide business strategy.
Must-haves for this role:
- 2-4+ years of experience in Business Intelligence Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Analysis, Data Science, or related field.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver on multiple projects, identify critical path tasks and prioritize most relevant actions and deliverables.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced environment requiring new perspectives and creative approaches, and with multiple competing deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to explain technical terms to a non-technical audience
- A critical and logical thinker who can work both independently and in a team environment
- Comfortable collaborating across functions to identify data analytics problems and execute solutions with technical rigor and data-driven insights.
- A drive to understand the core issues along with the determination to uncover the solution
