Position: Mathematics PhD

Type: Hourly contractor Compensation: $70–$80/hour Location: Remote Duration Commitment: 15–20 hours/week Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborate asynchronously with a team of experts in your domain.
  • Craft, solve, and review challenging problems with real-world applicability.
  • Evaluate and improve AI model performance using domain expertise.
  • Shape model reasoning and elevate training data quality.
  • Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines.

Qualifications Must-Have

  • Master's or PhD in Mathematics from a top US university.
  • Experience coding in Python and MATLAB for projects or research.
  • Field-specific experience in Numerical Linear Algebra, Computational Mechanics, or Computational Finance.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in English.
  • Based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK, or Australia.

Start Date

  • Late December; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.

  • Short interview to assess domain expertise.
  • Paid onboarding time for up to 1 hour, including screening and onboarding videos.

Compensation & Legal

  • Legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor.
  • Paid weekly via Stripe Connect.
