Our client, a boutique Law Firm specializing in Residential Real Estate, Wills and Estate Law, is looking to add an Estates Law Clerk to their team.
Job Description
- Assist with the preparation, drafting, and revision of legal documents, estate forms, correspondence and reporting letters independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong knowledge of steps required for applying for Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee with or without a Will.
- Strong knowledge of Wills & Power of Attorney documents
- Ensuring that estate documents and procedures are completed in a timely manner, including forwarding draft documents to the lawyer and clients for review
- Following up with clients for outstanding information, coordinating the flow of documents between clients and the office
- Responding to initial phone calls and emails from prospective clients;
- Scheduling appointments, follow-ups and signing meetings, and managing lawyers’ calendars and deadlines;
- Opening, organizing, and closing files;
- Ordering and conducting preliminary review of any due diligence searches, including: title sub-searches
- Preparing all other administrative and practice management documentation, including the preparation of: retainer agreements; draft and final statement of accounts; reporting letters; acknowledgements and directions;
- Effectively using software including Estateably, Teraview, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat
