About the role

Description AWS is seeking a Sr. Microsoft Licensing Specialist who will be responsible for enabling the AWS field sales teams with licensing rules, strategies, programs, and best practices to help customers identify cost savings opportunities for software licensing and licensing renewals. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise with Microsoft licensing as well as experience working directly with customers and Partners. They will provide expert advice and consultation to AWS field sales teams and Partners on licensing solutions for complex customer scenarios; including decisions on whether or not to renew long-term commercial licensing agreements and the identification of optimization strategies for licensing cost savings during cloud migrations. They will work with the Sales and Solutions Architect specialist roles, as well as field sales teams, on strategic opportunities.

A day in the life

On a typical day, you may host a webinar to educate AWS field team members on licensing strategies, and then join meetings with key customers to clarify licensing terms and help them optimize their Microsoft-related purchases. Your day may include meeting with product/engineering teams to discuss upcoming launches and provide guidance on licensing considerations. You might also create and update educational materials on Microsoft licensing for internal use.

About The Team This role is part of the AWS Infrastructure Migration and Modernization team. We strive to help customers use data to inform their migration decisions and offer optimization recommendations. We also provide prescriptive guidance on the migration and modernization pathways that support their goals for moving to AWS.

This position is part of the AWS Specialist and Partner Organization (ASP). Specialists own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for their respective technology domains, providing the business and technical expertise to help our customers succeed. Partner teams own the strategy, recruiting, development, and growth of our key technology and consulting partners. Together they provide our customers with the expertise and scale needed to build innovative solutions for their most complex challenges.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience conveying complex subject matter to clients and stakeholders
  • 6+ years experience working with Microsoft licensing concepts and terms
  • Fluency and ability to interpret Microsoft licensing requirements and terms for Windows Server and SQL Server
  • Experience engaging directly with enterprise customers in licensing conversations
  • Ability to contribute to business innovation in terms of providing better and simpler licensing options for customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements
  • Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders
  • 2+ years of exceeding quota and key performance metrics experience
  • Strong process and operational management skills - ability to drive scale, consistency and efficiency through the disciplined use of systems and processes
  • Experience with on-premises to cloud migration strategies
  • Experiences performing licensing assessments
  • Experience working directly with Fortune 1000 and/or Global 2000 organizations
