##AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Provide expertise in youth outreach and engagement, reporting and analysis, and stakeholder outreach. The incumbent will be responsible for leading a project from inception to execution, including the development and management of key initiatives under the City’s 2026–2030 Youth Engagement Strategy, with a focus on supporting the coordination, development, and sustainability of the Brampton Youth Cabinet. This is accomplished by supporting and coordinating the administration and implementation of the Youth Engagement Strategy with inter-governmental and multi-sectorial partnerships with educational institutions, community groups, and others to develop and sustain youth skill development, civic leadership, training, and employment opportunities. The position collaborates with Human Resources in building and sustaining a viable talent pipeline for the City of Brampton while ensuring inclusion, accessibility, and equity-enhancing organizational practices.

###KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

OPERATIONS SUPPORT

  • Lead and manage all aspects of assigned project’s performance full life cycle from inception to deployment and post-implementation review to meet project management methodology.
  • Coordinate and establish youth engagement opportunities and initiatives across departments, including those aligned with the strategic themes of the Youth Engagement Strategy.
  • Develop project outlines, descriptions and implementation plans to support program initiatives.
  • Effectively apply project management principles and implement project strategies by researching, analyzing and evaluating existing methods, procedures and protocols to ensure project scope is achieved.
  • Work with the Manager to establish short and long-term goals for the development and execution of youth-related programs and initiatives. Goals should align with the City’s strategic youth priorities including inclusion, leadership, engagement, and civic participation.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of the program’s performance metrics.
  • Implement and manage employment, volunteer, and mentorship programs to support youth and execute plans and policies to support the Youth Engagement Strategy.
  • Oversee students, part-time staff, and volunteers in consultation with the Manager, including on-site supervision, direction, discipline, and training.

YOUTH OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT

  • Build and maintain a relationship with internal and external stakeholders, to foster and support coordination while carrying out accountabilities.
  • Respond to and handle stakeholder inquiries; prioritize requests, respond accordingly, escalate for resolution as required to meet corporate service standards, and manage public expectations.
  • Act as the first point of contact with local stakeholders for matters directed to the Manager.
  • Plan and implement youth programming, outreach events, and services to meet the needs of the youth communities and align with the Youth Engagement Strategy as directed by the Manager.
  • Design programs that reflect the lived experiences, interests, and diverse backgrounds of Brampton youth. Support Brampton Youth Cabinet-led initiatives, outreach campaigns, and city-wide events designed to strengthen youth civic engagement.
  • Prepare publications and outreach materials, in coordination with Strategic Communications to engage community stakeholders and educational institutions as directed by the Manager.
  • Respond to inquiries, regular meetings, resourcing, and related items for the Brampton Youth Cabinet.
  • Provide strategic support, critical analysis, guidance, and advice related management of the Brampton Youth Cabinet.
  • Facilitate Brampton Youth Cabinet meetings and provide logistical and administrative support to ensure effective planning and execution.
  • Develop and sustain strong working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community partnerships, internal stakeholders, and all levels of government to successfully implement the Youth Engagement Strategy.
  • Champion youth-led partnerships and amplify youth voices through cross-sector collaboration.

COMMUNICATIONS AND REPORTING

  • Collect data and create benchmarks to measure future gaps and successes using an evidence-based approach to enhance youth engagement objectives within the City.
  • Track progress against the strategic objectives outlined in the Youth Engagement Strategy.
  • Research, evaluate, and refine external best practices from other organizations related to their outreach and recruitment activities to ensure continuous quality improvement when implementing the Youth Engagement Strategy.
  • Update and oversee related databases and ensure that records pertaining to the Youth Engagement Strategy are accurate.
  • Lead and coordinate post-engagement surveys and related follow-up activities.
  • Manage all special projects with the support and guidance of the Manager.
  • Support the Manager in maintaining and implementing a communication plan and other materials to highlight program successes to local stakeholders and to provide updates to senior management and Councillors.
  • Maintain and update the Brampton Youth webpage, to communicate all youth-related events and activities offered across the City, centralizing all resources.
  • Prepare and create correspondence, briefing and summary notes, reports, and presentations, ensuring completed materials accurately capture meeting notes and next steps, and meet established deadlines and confidentiality.

Budget Support

  • Establish and recommend budget requirements based on operational activities to ensure effective resource and expense management at all times.
  • Prepare regular divisional Operating and Capital Budget vs. Actual Variance reports.
  • Conduct regular budget vs actual time reporting and follow-up as required.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP AND STAKEHOLDER OUTREACH

  • Update and maintain current or newly created educational stream employment and volunteer programs from high school/secondary and post-secondary educational institutions.
  • Implement formalized programs that can be leveraged across the City (i.e., co-op, internships, articling, youth apprenticeships, and summer students) along with other development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Engage internal departments to understand their capacity to participate in community, educational, and City-led events.
  • Support an internal and external outreach program to engage and bring awareness to community organizations including educational institutions in the City’s efforts to provide experiential work to its youth.
  • Connect with the community through outreach initiatives (i.e., participate in job fairs, networking events, etc.) to promote youth development opportunities within the City.
  • Support the Brampton Youth Cabinet in hosting events that promote civic engagement and youth leadership.

TEAMWORK AND COOPERATION

  • Represent the City of Brampton in collaboration with Human Resources and Operating Departments in outreach activities targeted at youth (i.e., Career Fairs, Mentorship opportunities, etc.).
  • Provide support to the Management Team.
  • Always demonstrate corporate values while ensuring inclusion, accessibility, and equity-enhancing organizational practices.
  • Participate as a member of cross-functional teams.
  • Incorporate and strengthen collaboration and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Assist with special projects as required.
  • Work well within diverse groups to support operational goals and objectives.

##REQUIREMENTS

###Education:

  • Post-secondary degree in Public Administration, Social Work, Business Administration, Public Policy, Human Resources, or related field.

###Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience in an advisory role in social or community development.
  • Experience working with student/youth volunteers or ambassadors in any capacity.
  • Experience using MS Office databases to provide reporting and analytics.
  • Proven Project management experience preferred.

###Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion principles.
  • Understanding of employment legislation, including theEmployment Standards Act,Ontario Human Rights Commission, andAccessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
  • Possess political acuity, maintain confidentiality and operate with tact.
  • Skilled in creating written and oral communication for various audiences.
  • Ability to convey complex ideas through brief simple materials.
  • Effective at working with others to reach a common goal or objective.
  • The ability to travel frequently to various worksites and off-site client meetings
