In this role, the machinist sets up and operates CNC lathes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Daily tasks include interpreting blueprints, selecting and installing tooling, adjusting machine settings, and monitoring production to maintain accuracy and efficiency. The machinist inspects parts using appropriate measuring tools, performs in-process quality checks, and makes necessary offsets or corrections to ensure parts meet tolerances. Responsibilities also include routine machine maintenance, keeping work areas clean and safe, documenting production activities, and collaborating with supervisors and team members to resolve machining issues and optimize processes.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Machine Operation and Machinery skills, including setup, safe operation, and basic maintenance of CNC lathes. Candidates should possess solid Machining skills, including reading blueprints, interpreting specifications, and working with various materials. Candidates should possess Turning/Programming and related machining skills that support versatility across different equipment and machining processes. Candidates should possess Quality Control skills, including precision measurement, use of inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers), and adherence to tolerances. Relevant experience working as a CNC machinist in a production or job-shop environment. Ability to troubleshoot machining issues, adjust programs or offsets, and optimize tooling and feeds/speeds. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and commitment to workplace safety and clean work practices.
