Veterinary Assistant, Client Care

Location: Chester Basin, NS

Veterinary Assistant, Client Care welcomes a dependable and caring Veterinary Assistant, Client Care Coordinator to join our team. This part-time opportunity includes a range of responsibilities that directly attributes to the efficient and effective daily operation of the hospital. Your primary responsibility is to ensure our clients and their pets feel welcomed, expertly cared for, and appreciated!

Key responsibilities and attributes in your role as Technician Assistant/Vet Assistant include:

  • Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patient and pet parents
  • Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients
  • General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas, and common areas
  • Compassion and nurturing attitude
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to adapt to changing situations
  • Efficient in carrying out assignments independently
  • Takes initiative to complete tasks throughout the day
  • Veterinary Assistant (VA) or Veterinary Office Assistant (VOA) program certificate is an asset

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ability to answer a multiline phone system and track and book appointments effectively
  • Placing outbound calls to pet parents for follow-up and future appointment bookings
  • Respond and manage email correspondence; clients, referring veterinarians & internal office messages
  • Admitting and discharging pet patients
  • Invoicing/billing; creating estimates, obtaining pet owner confirmation, and processing payments
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting people at ease and creating a welcoming environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Willingness to learn more regarding; veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
  • Previous customer service or front desk experience in hospitality or retail is an asset!
