Job Title: Receptionist “Atumskageewin” (Greeter with Love+ Kindness)

Reporting to Director, the Receptionist, “Atumskageewin” (Greeter with Love+ Kindness), acts as a first point of contact at the Ubuntu Program, greets visitors, and answers basic inquiries about the Centre, services, and/or refers questions to the appropriate staff. The “Atumskageewin” provides timely and accurate contact to visitors to the Ubuntu Children & Families Program and models the values of the agency through a friendly, compassionate, and professional manner. The “Atumskageewin” works closely with the Ubuntu Senior Administrator and the Administrative Team to ensure that staff and community members work in a safe and organizationally effective environment. The “Atumskageewin” handles many of the front-facing administrative tasks, while supporting the Ubuntu Senior Administrator with back-end tasks related to administration and operations.

Position Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Ubuntu Program by greeting visitors, answering inquiries, and directing calls and messages to the appropriate staff.
- Maintain a welcoming, professional office environment and assist with non-routine or crisis situations as needed.
- Oversee office presentation and cleanliness, manage supply orders, ensure rooms are set up for bookings, and update resource materials.
- Coordinate room bookings, collaborate with the C5 Hub team on space use, programming, etc.
- Coordinate with the Ubuntu Program Custodian on room cleaning schedules and other office needs.
- Support events and trainings with room setup and logistics; manage incoming/outgoing mail and monitor Slack/email for daily support needs.
- Handle office logistics such as printer maintenance, badge and sign orders, and business cards.
- Work with the Senior Administrator on case/file management, maintenance issues, and staff onboarding/offboarding.
- Provide office tours, support internal communications (e.g., weekly newsletter), and participate in organization-wide community events and duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
- BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years’ experience working in a professional administrative role
- Candidates with post-secondary education or certification in Office Administration is an asset
- Knowledge of and experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset
- Knowledge of and experience working with community resources in Northeast Edmonton
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and business equipment
- Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course
- Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector completed within the past six months and kept up to date (every 3 years)
- Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months and kept up to date (every 3 years)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is preferred
- Experience with and knowledge of Indigenous culture and ceremonies is considered an asset.
