JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Managers in the Outpatients Clinics, the Cancer Centre Clerk provides efficient clerical services within the Cancer Centre's Systemic Oncology Program, Radiation Oncology Program Palliative/Supportive Care Program, and/or New Patient Referral Office.
The Cancer Centre Clerk is always the first point of contact and will provide a warm welcome to all patients and families coming to the Cancer Centre. The clerk will provide efficient clerical support to the outpatient clinics, including scheduling of all physician/treatment/nurse appointments, ordering lab, diagnostic testing, triaging patient phone calls, coordinating physician phone calls, support in the organization of patient care outside of the Cancer Centre (including admissions, discharges, home care) and managing workload of all physician clinics, including an understanding of wait time mandates. The Cancer Centre Clerk complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Exemplary interpersonal & written/verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and information/data management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently, coordinating and prioritizing multiple assignments
Excellent judgment and decision making skills
Maintain and foster confidentiality in all aspects of written and verbal communication
General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position
EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE:
Grade 12 Education - required;
Minimum of one year related experience in a health care environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel (will be tested)
Medical terminology - required (will be tested)

Providing Acute Care Services with 650 plus beds and an operating budget of half of a billion dollars, Windsor Regional Hospital is one of the largest community based non-academic hospitals in the Province of Ontario.
