Job Description RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary The role involves the recruitment and consenting of patients for the Maternal and Child Health Biobank as part of the Delivering Healthy Babies initiative. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the collection of biological specimens and questionnaire data. You will work in a fast-paced environment, including in an obstetrics clinic and an IVF clinic. Ideal for someone interested in health, obstetrics, or child development, and comfortable speaking with pregnant patients and couples in clinical settings.
Through the collection of biological samples and clinical data, the Maternal and Child Health Biobank, located at the RI-MUHC, aims to facilitate research on conception, pregnancy, and birth to help predict, prevent, and treat complications and improve outcomes of mothers and babies.
General Duties
- Participant recruitment and consenting,
- Participant follow-up (via email & phone),
- Data collection and data entry,
- Biological sample collection (i.e., blood and swabs),
- Occasional travel between clinical recruitment sites,
- Obtain the required training for Good Clinical Practice, REDCap use, ethics training by the Tri-Council Course on Research Ethics, etc.

Field of Study: Health Sciences
Other education considered an asset for this position: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is an asset
Work Experience: 0-6 months experience working with patients/customers/participants. Clinical research experience in an academic and/or clinical research environment is an asset.
Required Skills
- Bilingualism: written and oral communication skills in French and English are required,
- Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision in fast-paced environments at different clinical sites in Montreal,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Problem assessment and problem solving abilities,
- Experience in clinical settings or perinatal research would be an asset,
- Must be comfortable and confident in speaking to pregnant participants and/or couples undergoing fertility treatments.
Additional information
Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: $34,980.40 - $52,452.40Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie
