Responsibilities:

  • Perform all Imaging responsibilities including running the x-ray and ultrasound equipment during procedure and all post-procedure processing.
  • Transfers, reviews and manipulates images to PACS
  • Perform PICC line insertions and any other procedures appropriate under the RHPA.
  • Trained in sterile technique to assist in all procedures scheduled in the IR suites.
  • Obtain all relevant patient history prior to procedure, this includes but is not limited to blood work, isolation status, prep.
  • Completion of patient safety checklist and consent is obtained prior to procedure and all data is collected post procedure.
  • Ensure post procedure orders, instructions/TOA is given to patient or nurse.
  • Coordinate Porters, and ensure patients are prepped and changed for procedures
  • Ensure rooms/equipment are appropriately cleaned, prepped and ready for patient arrival
  • Accurately document case in MEDITECH, with correct billing codes.
  • Order lab work and send specimens when necessary
  • Maintain particular knowledge of IR inventory and ensure department is adequately stocked and necessary product is available and on hand when needed.
  • Adheres to health and safety policies
  • Takes initiative on staying current on continuing education, new procedures and modalities

Qualifications:

  • Completion of formal radiological technology training with an approved school of radiography
  • Recent post-graduate experience in performing interventional procedures and sterile technique an asset.
  • Competent in the placement of PICC line devices an asset.
  • Must be actively registered with the CMRITO
  • Must have completed C.P.R. training and be updated
  • Able to respond to new implementations and challenges.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal required.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Possess the self-assurance and confidence to succeed in a fast paced, challenging environment
