Boeing Canada Operations Ltd. is seeking aSenior****Labour Relations Specialist, reporting to the Senior Manager of Labour Relations, working out of theWinnipeg, Manitoba office.
The ideal applicant is someone who has a broad range of experience covering the areas of Labour relations, positive employee relations, and employee engagement. The selected candidate for this position will demonstrate proactive approaches to identifying issues, generating ideas and developing solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day Labour relations activities for unionized employees, including contract interpretation and enforcement
- Investigate and resolve grievances and disputes in collaboration with union representatives and management
- Provide guidance and training to managers and supervisors on Labour relations policies, contract provisions, employee relations strategies and best practices
- Collaborate with legal, HR, and operations teams to mitigate Labour risks and support organizational objectives
- Analyze Labour trends, prepare reports, and recommend proactive solutions to improve Labour-management relations
- Provide innovative ideas/initiatives to increase employee engagement
- Develop strong partnerships with business leaders, HR Generalists, HR functions and create integrated solutions that will foster a culture based on relationships, trust and engagement
- Partner with Labour relation specialists and functional partners to integrate and execute key actions following union negotiations and work environment assessments
- Engage with key stakeholders including business leaders, HR, finance, and site/functional Labour Relations (LR) to identify potential Labour efficiencies in the business
- Leverage Lean and Change Management principles to provide advice to LR, HR, and business leaders for process improvements and best practices
- Execute positive employee relations and containment processes for a stand-alone site(s)
This position will be primarily at the Winnipeg site with travel domestically and internationally required occasionally.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 10+ years of experience in Employee/Labour Relations
- Experience with collective bargaining and union-represented workforce
- Experience with HR Labour and/or Employment related laws, policies and procedures
- Extensive experience working with Labour unions
- Experience managing sensitive Labour issues that required the use of emotional intelligence to effectively resolve conflicts and support employee well-being
- Experience with collective agreement negotiations
- Experience identifying and mitigating risks to maintain management rights
- Experience creating and developing strategy plans and/or executing strategies and managing projects
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
- Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods
- Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in industrial relations
- Experience with Workday
Additional Information:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
