Position Summary Located at 4350 Highway Chomedey, Laval, Québec, this position will support the Director of tax with the management of the corporate tax function for all Savaria Group companies (Canadian and international). The candidate will manage the tax provisions process, support the Canadian and U.S. tax compliance, and play an important role with the tax planning and business support. The Tax Manager will report to the Director of Tax and work closely with external service providers for tax compliance while ensuring compliance with tax regulations in Canada and the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review and consolidate the company’s quarterly and annual tax provisions.
  • Coordinate and prepare the support for Canadian and U.S. tax compliance (corporate income tax filings) handled by external service providers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Organizes, supervises the preparation of the SR&ED claims and various forms such as T4A, NR4, T4A-NR, T5, 1142, etc.
  • In coordination with the local controllers, validate the notice of reassessments and communicate the discrepancies to the tax authorities.
  • Supervise the tax deliverables of international subsidiaries in collaboration with local controllers and external tax advisors.
  • Provide proactive tax advice and strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Canadian and U.S. tax laws, as well as global tax developments, ensuring the company stays in compliance with changing regulations.
  • Manage Canadian tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities and support the local Controllers with international tax audits.
  • Support the Director of Tax with various tax planning projects and initiatives, including local and cross-border tax reorganizations and structuring.
  • Assist with the management and analysis of the company's international tax positions, including transfer pricing matters, intercompany transactions, cash repatriation and withholding tax issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • In coordination with the Director of Tax, develop the framework and the tools that will be needed to manage the evolving international tax compliance requirements (CbyCr, EIFEL, Pilar 2, etc)
  • Provide tax advice to the other areas of the finance function, such as financial reporting, accounting, payroll and treasury and also the business units, when required.

  • CPA designation with master’s degree in taxation or in-depth program from CPA Canada
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in taxation, ideally in an international company reporting under IFRS
  • Proven knowledge of Canadian and international tax matters
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, decentralized environment, ideally in a public company
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills allowing management of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Can take on new initiatives, challenges, and opportunities and see them through to success
  • Experience in tax accounting for financial statements
  • Language: Fluency in French and English, written and spoken, required
