About the role
Join a team of passionate builders! AGF is seeking a Machine Operator / Labourer for the day shift (Monday to Friday) at our plant in Ottawa (3419, Hawthorne Road, Ottawa, ON K1G 4G2).
Bend, cut, and bundle steel bars using automatic, semi-automatic, and manual machinery, and see your work come to life in major construction projects!
Since 1948, AGF has played a key role in the supply and installation of reinforcing steel, with over 50,000 projects completed across the country and beyond. We’ve contributed to major construction projects such as the Canadian Tire Centre, the Ottawa light-rail transit, the General Hospital, and the Canadian War Museum. What We Offer
- Salary starting at $23.50/hour with annual raises;
- Weekly pay;
- Full insurance coverage (health, dental, and vision) after the probationary period;
- Group RRSP with a 4% employer contribution after the probationary period;
- Vacation accrued throughout the year, paid out twice annually, plus 10 paid statutory holidays;
- $100 per year for equipment allowance;
- Telemedicine and employee assistance programs;
- Physical activity reimbursement of $600 per year to promote health and well-being.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate overhead cranes, bar benders, and shear machines (training provided);
- Read and follow bar lists to fabricate rebar according to specific specifications;
- Assist equipment operators with material handling;
- Affix identification tags to fabricated rebar bundles;
- Support with additional assigned tasks as required;
- Act in compliance with AGF’s Health & Safety policies following the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Other duties as assigned;
About You: The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience.
- Ability to commute to 3419 Hawthorne Rd, Ottawa, ON K1G 4G2: (required)
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role in manufacturing;
- Experience operating an overhead crane (an asset);
- Basic math and measurement skills (an asset);
- Ability to learn various types of manufacturing equipment;
- Ability to perform physical tasks – lift/move up to 50 lbs;
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform physical labor;
- Strong multitasking skills and capacity for teamwork.
