The Intermediate Aquatic Scientist position is integral to supporting this mission by facilitating projects utilizing the following competencies, skills, and activities:
Key Responsibilities
- Designing, planning and/or leading aquatic baseline field programs, aquatic habitat offsetting development, aquatic health assessments, fish and fish habitat assessments, fish salvages and/or water quality field programs
- Deliver high-quality technical writing for aquatics reporting
- Data collection, analysis, interpretation and management
- Collaborate with internal and external clients, regulators, contractors and Indigenous communities
- Draft proposals, scopes and cost estimates and support business development
- Develop and implement health and safety plans, and adhere to company policies and procedures
Qualifications, Capabilities and Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in biological sciences or equivalent
- 5+ years’ of related experience
- Familiarity with relevant provincial and federal regulations and guidelines in varying sectors
- Class 5 Drivers License with good driving record
- Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and meet deadlines in a team environment with limited supervision
- Willingness to travel to work sites
- Strong teamwork skills, providing technical guidance and direction to junior field staff through supervision, mentoring, and training
