About This Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Manager, Member Risk, in this role, you will define and oversee the activities of successful travel experiences run by GGC Members. This role will lead staff goal setting, ensure Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) principles are upheld, coach for success and oversee processes such as those financial and risk related.

Position Specifics In This Role You Will

  • Oversee a team of approximately 2 Travel staff
  • Build relationships across national membership to find efficiencies and ways to create value to members, support the Theory of Change, and help to achieve the outcomes for girls in GGC.
  • Provide ongoing support to provinces and to the team as they support event planners to create in-person event registrations and promotion.
  • Support process optimization - with teams including, but not limited to Marketing & Communications, Finance, Legal, IT and Provincial Operations.
  • Provide advice, respond to inquiries and act as first point of escalation for Travel team.
  • Work closely with members from provincial councils to fill gaps in service and to investigate opportunities to make it easy for volunteers to drive girl satisfaction, equity and inclusion.
  • Support key stakeholders from time to time, including subject matter experts, Provincial International Advisers, Travel Support Volunteers and other partners as required.
  • Represent the Travel team as required at team or inter-team meetings or on projects to ensure interests are represented.
  • Work as an integrated member of the Member Risk Team, serving organizational needs as required.

Staff Support

  • Provide day-to-day and workplan oversight to direct reports, including setting objectives, performance measurement, training and coaching, coordination of workload, cross-training for coverage due to vacations and absences, and time and leave tracking.
  • Build out and create work-back plans collaboratively with member and staff input, which ultimately set out execute projects as defined by the strategic plan.
  • Provide strong dynamic leadership that mentors, develops and guides team members.
  • Identify & coordinate team training and development requirements, which may include delivery of training.
  • Participate in quarterly goals reflection process.

General

  • Maintain and apply current knowledge of all relevant policies, procedures, and practices
  • Research and stay abreast of current trends in student travel and youth events.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of projects, initiatives and processes of the Member Risk team
  • Implement standard work practices to ensure timely follow-up that meets outlined standards for external, internal and interdepartmental communication as well as workflow process such as kickoffs, file management, meeting project deadlines.
  • Actively contribute to the short, medium, and long-term planning of the Member Risk department and GGC's strategic plan implementation.
  • Contribute to the development of the Member Risk budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 1-2 years of experience supporting front-line staff or volunteers in the areas of financial management, accounting or bookkeeping
  • Experience using risk management documents and safety protocols in youth-serving organizations.
  • Experience in youth development, special education, outdoor education, youth travel, and/or adventure education
  • Familiarity with providing support to a volunteer-led organization
  • Experience leading team in a professional environment
  • Knowledge/understanding of standard bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Strong working understanding of Excel as used for bookkeeping
  • Financial aptitude with strong communication skills (verbal, written and is an active listener).
  • Excellent organizational skills and highly detail oriented.
  • Strong relationship builder able to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Experience working with volunteers in a non-profit environment
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to motivate and engage direct reports and non-direct reports
  • Experience in supervisory roles
  • Experience working with participants from diverse backgrounds and/or with special needs

Hourly Rate: $60,000-$70,800/Annual
