Post Description The Finance & Administration Controller establishes standards for accurate financial transactions and reporting, providing the information needed for sound decision-making. He is responsible for developing tools and standardizing processes to ensure appropriate and reliable internal controls across all Canadian branches.
- Financial Oversight
- Oversee the accounting closing process, including journal entries and account reconciliations;
- Prepare, analyze and present financial statements, management reports, budgets and performance dashboards;
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships and negotiate lines of credit and other financial agreements.
- Strategic analyses and planning
- Lead budget forecasting in collaboration with departmental managers;
- Analyze the company's financial performance and recommend strategies to optimize profitability and efficiency;
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures in line with strategic objectives.
- Project Financial Support and Decision-Making
- Actively participate in the validation of project proposals and commercial offers, ensuring financial feasibility and alignment with company objectives;
- Support monthly project / service reviews by analyzing financial performance, identifying deviations and recommending mitigation plans with the support of the project controller;
- Collaborate closely with project managers, operational teams, project controller and the Group to ensure that key financial decisions and corrective actions are informed, timely and aligned with strategic and operational goals;
- Provide insights on cost control, budgeting, and financial risk management for complex systems, ensuring projects remain profitable and compliant with internal standards.
- Leadership and Team Management
- Recruit, train and mentor accounting staff while fostering professional development;
- Evaluate team performance, set objectives and manage schedules and priorities;
- Promote a corporate culture based on organizational values.
- Compliance and Risks Management
- Ensure compliance with accounting, tax, and regulatory standards;
- Oversee insurance coverage (liability, commercial, etc.) and assess risks;
- Coordinate internal and external audits to ensure operational integrity.
- Process Improvement and Digitization
- Actively support and improve NetSuite ERP for the finance department (implementation in progress, Nov 1st);
- Standardize and streamline accounting processes / RACI across Canadian branches.
- Administrative Supervision
- Oversee and support the team responsible for:
- o Activities related to special events;
- o Managing business travel arrangements;
- o Administrative tasks, including lease renewals, rental contracts, purchasing, customer support, promotional items, office supplies, customs, and shipping.
- Insurance Contract Management
- Support and oversee the management of insurance contracts (liability, property, commercial, etc.) ;
- Act as the main point of contact with insurers and brokers, ensuring adequate coverage for company operations;
- Monitor renewals, claims, and compliance with contractual obligations, while optimizing cost-effectiveness and risks mitigation.
Profile Required
- University degree in accounting, finance, or business;
- Minimum 10 years in finance, preferably in complex or multi-site environments;
- Ability to understand, optimize, and harmonize complex financial processes with an innovative approach;
- Experience with Oracle NetSuite is a plus;
- Proficiency in spoken and written English; knowledge of French is an asset;
- Skilled in coaching, motivating, and developing teams while steering strategic financial projects;
- Solid experience in cost management (cost-to-completion);
- Strong analytical and synthesis abilities;
- Expertise in identifying financial and operational risks and devising mitigation strategies;
- Sound judgment, resourcefulness, and autonomy;
- Excellent prioritization and organizational rigor;
- Emotional intelligence and ability to manage stress effectively.
- Ability to simplify complex concepts and present them clearly and accessibly;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and openness to adopting digital tools like financial ERPs;
- Valid passport and availability for business travel.
