About The Program

The Manager, Patient Care Services – Evening/Night/Weekend, reporting to the Director, oversees patient care operations during weekend, night and evening shifts. This role ensures the safe, effective, and coordinated delivery of patient care across inpatient programs during non-standard hours, when access to on-site leadership and support services is limited.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership oversight of patient care operations during evenings, nights, and weekends, ensuring patient safety, continuity of care, and real time clinical decision-making within established policies and procedures Monitor patient acuity, behavioural risks, admissions, discharges, and transfers, supporting staff in prioritizing care and responding to emergent situations. Respond to and manage clinical incidents, behavioural escalations, emergency codes, and safety concerns. Provide visible leadership and decision-making support to frontline clinical staff during off-hours Address immediate employee relations concerns during off-hours to stabilize situations and maintain safety and professional standards, Communicate and collaborate with the Administrator on Call, Afterhours Managers, and Duty Physician to ensure timely resolution of operational and clinical issues. Ensure staff compliance with mandatory training and awareness of policies relevant to weekend/evening operations. Liaise with interdisciplinary teams and partners to support patient care and transitions during weekend/evening shifts.

Qualifications

College Diploma in Nursing (RPN or RN), Allied Health or other relevant healthcare discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Minimum 3 years of experience in mental health or healthcare settings, including demonstrated experience providing operational or clinical leadership support. Registration with an applicable regulatory college where required or equivalent experience in an unregulated healthcare role. Working knowledge of mental health clinical service delivery to support safe, coordinated, and patient-centred care during evening and night shifts Commitment to compassionate, recovery-oriented care that maintains patient dignity and safety Knowledge of relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, PHIPA, SDA): Ensures compliance with healthcare laws and patient privacy. Ability to provide clear direction, guidance, and decision-making support to staff during evenings and nights, particularly in urgent or escalated situations. Working knowledge of collective agreements and ability to address immediate staff concerns or conflicts, escalating to appropriate leadership as required. Required to effectively communicate with staff, on-call leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams during off-hours, including documentation and handover reporting. Familiarity with healthcare IT systems and electronic health records (EHR). Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel), email, and internet.

Language Requirements

English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is preferred.

Salary Range: 58.63 to 67.97 per hour
