Duties
✔️ Project Planning and Management – provide knowledgeable technical advice where appropriate to assist First Nations governments in moving capital and infrastructure projects forward. Review technical specifications, drawings, tender documents and/or tender submissions. Monitor project progress in the field or through meetings and review project completion reporting.
✔️ Asset Condition Reporting System (ACRS) – arrange for and participate in the inspection of First Nation’s infrastructure to establish asset condition and determine repairs or renovations that may be required. Monitor or assist with projects designed to repair or upgrade the condition of First Nation’s assets.
✔️ Operations and Maintenance (O&M) – assist in the establishment of annual O&M budgets for First Nations based upon existing assets and infrastructure.
✔️ Technical Review Committee (TRC) – review First Nation’s Capital department project submission for technical merit and funding program eligibility. Participate in TRC meetings and support other committee members with technical advice during the review of infrastructure project submissions by First Nation governments.

Intent of the process
The immediate intent of the process is to staff indeterminately one position at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established, which could be used to staff temporary, and/or permanent positions, with similar qualifications, various linguistic profiles, various security requirements, and/or various tenures at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, within the Yukon Region. Conditions of employment may vary according to the positions to be staffed.
The position is located in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. If not already a resident in Whitehorse, YT, the selected candidate will have to relocate to Whitehorse. The remote work is not possible.

- Eligible for certification or membership with a provincial or territorial association as a Certified Engineering Technologist in Canada.

- Certification as a skilled construction sector tradesperson from a provincial or territorial regulatory body.
EXPERIENCE

*Significant and **recent experience supporting the planning, design, construction and management of community building and municipal infrastructure projects, including but not limited to, residential structures, water/water-water, schools/community buildings, roads, bridges and/or commercial property development.

*Significant experience analysing and assessing technical data related to the operation and maintenance of community infrastructure assets and /facilities.

Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of the duties for a minimum period of two years.
**Recent experience means within the last 5 years.
