The salary range for this part-time 0.50 FTE position is $34,466 to $37,000 per year.
The Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, invites applications for a part-time Research Associate position in Machine Learning to join a dynamic and multidisciplinary team under the supervision of Dr. Joerg Gsponer. The successful candidate will take a leading role in the development of new computational prediction tools.
The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in computer science, and at least 5 years of post-doctoral research experience. Candidates with specific experience in machine learning methods such Deep Learning will be strongly favoured. Moreover, candidates must have experience in developing prediction tools for intrinsically disordered proteins and protein conservation. Excellent oral and written English communication skills, the proven ability to work as part of a team, and demonstrated project leadership capabilities including formal report writing are essential. The applicant is expected to have published in high-profile journals.
Specific job duties include the assembly of updated training and test datasets of IDR-mediated interactions, the creation of a new deep learning architecture for the prediction of MoRFs in IDRs and the partner they bind to, benchmarking of the new method and writing of a manuscript.
