The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Fleet, Supply, and Weapons Services Bureau is seeking a qualified individual to join our Weapons Services Section. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will lead and supports the Weapons Supply Clerks by overseeing daily supply operations, including receiving and shipping of assets, monitoring and maintaining inventory levels, coordinating orders, and managing the secure destruction of use of force equipment and other assets.

About the job
Under the direction of the Manager, Weapons Services Section provides group leadership to Weapons Supply Clerks and coordinates the daily operations of supply services including receiving, shipping, monitoring stock levels, maintaining inventories, ordering and destruction of use of force equipment, and other assets.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
- Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation.
- Ability to pass annual Firearms Safety training.
- Ability to obtain an Equipment Operator's permit to operate a reach truck(forklift)
- Ability to pass certification for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
Inventory and Asset Management
- Demonstrated ability to manage controlled assets, including firearms, ammunition, and specialized equipment, ensuring accurate tracking and secure handling.
- Proficient in conducting cycle counts, quarterly inventories, and reconciling discrepancies using inventory management systems.
- Experience establishing and maintaining minimum/maximum inventory levels and initiating timely procurement.
Leadership and Team Coordination
- Proven experience providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight to clerical staff, including assigning work, resolving conflicts, and supporting performance evaluations.
- Ability to identify training needs and deliver orientation and in-service training to support team development and operational efficiency.
Problem Solving and Analytical Skills
- Skilled in analyzing supply chain procedures and identifying inefficiencies or inconsistencies, with a proactive approach to recommending and implementing solutions.
- Capable of investigating operational issues such as workload pressures or staffing shortages and proposing actionable strategies to management.
- Analytical skills to identify training needs and problems solving skills to identify errors and recommend enhancements to section software and record keeping.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Strong oral and interpersonal skills to provide advice, conflict resolution, negotiation and guidance to members when assessing priorities of work, assigning and monitoring tasks, and obtaining timely advice on risk issues from staff.
- Written communications skills to prepare reports on research/recommendations for improvements to section procedures, policies, practices and systems.
