The purpose of the role The incumbent will be responsible for supervising the import-export and logistics team for our Canada and US operations, this in accordance with the organizational policies and procedures ensuring to comply with relevant Canada and US laws and regulations and international trade practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a system and policies to administer documentation process required to import and export of merchandise.
  • Supervise the import logistics team on daily basis, recruit, evaluate, train and motivate the team.
  • Ensure the department projects, milestones and goals are met.
  • Resolve complex issues that have been escalated and expedite solutions with our freight forwarder, Canada or US customs and suppliers.
  • Identify transportations issues and provide solutions in real-time to ensure on-time delivery of our product.
  • Train the team on shipping process and new customs regulations.
  • Maintain and respect the standards, procedures, laws and regulations for all shipments related to the direct import-export process as well as the international transport operations.
  • Build and maintain positive business relationships with our customs broker, freight forwarder, suppliers, etc.
  • Supervise the tariff classification process of our products for Canada and US.
  • Proceed with regular internal audits and analysis.
  • Research continuous changes in legal requirements and assess impact on current procedures.
  • Assess Government agency requirements and evaluate if they are applicable to la Vie en Rose products.
  • Ensure constant communication with various internal departments at the Head Office regarding follow ups and movement of merchandise and non-merchandise.
  • Initiate effective and constructive solutions to problems and challenges presented at the shipping and delivery level.
  • Provide support in customs audits for Canada and US.
  • Participate in department analysis regarding the freight costs, transit time, delays, etc.
  • Supervise the process of drawback claims.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in transport / logistics.
  • 5 years of relevant export experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of team management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Canada and US import regulations, international transport regulations, supply chain mechanism, international trade.
  • English and French (written and spoken, the person will need to speak with various stakeholders across Canada).
  • Experience with various order management systems.
  • Great knowledge of MS Office: Excel and Outlook.
