The Registry of Motor Vehicles Division at the Department of Public Works (PW) is responsible for the administration of drivers and vehicles in the province. We are responsible for the policies, legislation, and regulations that guide Road Safety and operate in a proactive regulatory environment. We maintain records regarding vehicles, driver licensing, medical fitness, driver competency, collisions and compliance, all working together to ensure a safe road network.
About Our Opportunity
The Senior Program Coordinator has overall management responsibility and accountability for providing program support to the Registry of Motor Vehicles. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the Registry's role in special initiatives and providing leadership and support to ensure program requirements are met and new programs and services are effectively implemented.
Primary Accountabilities
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of both large and small initiatives to facilitate program improvement; to prepare policy and procedural documents; develop training programs; plan, lead and manage large scale, broad scope and complex cross jurisdictional initiatives; lead the implementation of security measures to meet national standards; conduct research; recommend, coordinate and support ongoing enhancements to the RMV IT application.
This position is also a leadership position within the assigned section and a member of the section management team.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must hold a University degree in business, law, information technology or a related discipline with a minimum of six years of related experience. An acceptable combination of education, training, and directly related experience may be considered. Formal training and/or practical experience in project management and progressive management experience are considered assets. High degree of proficiency in computer software programs is required.
Must have demonstrated ability to develop and implement new strategies for streamlining work processes and improved service delivery. Must have proven problem solving skills and be able to function well under stress and respond enthusiastically to new challenges, effectively leading change management initiatives. Demonstrated ability in organizing/executing multiple responsibilities successfully is essential.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, possess excellent organizational and analytical skills with the ability to meet stringent deadlines and be self directed with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent interpersonal skills, well developed leadership skills in a team environment, and be customer service orientated.
Previous Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) experience would be an asset.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
Equivalency
An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Related equivalencies may include, but are not limited to:
- A related master’s degree and four (4) years of related experience.
- A related 2-year diploma and eight (8) years of related experience.
Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
