As an Acquisition Specialist, you will be the single point of contact throughout the vehicle and equipment acquisition and fabrication process. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that vehicles and equipment required by our business partners are purchased, designed and/or fabricated to meet clients' needs. You will also ensure that the vehicles and equipment meet applicable Canadian and provincial laws, regulations and guidelines. Primary duties include:

  • Collaborate with customers to gather and synthesize vehicle or equipment technical requirements and specifications including researching, understanding and interpreting the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical specifications.
  • Use technical specifications and data to create weight distribution diagrams and conceptual designs of vehicle and equipment, ensuring that the finished product works seamlessly.
  • Complete procurement process by working with internal and external partners to create tender documents, contract extensions, PeopleSoft requisitions and vendor performance evaluations.
  • Perform quality control inspections and attend meetings at manufacturing and installation facilities, ensuring units are made and/or installed to quality and existing and industry standards.
  • Plan, execute, monitor, control and close out fleet acquisition projects by ensuring internal and external vendors meet promised deliverables and specifications, manage scope changes and verify technical specifications before unit enters service.
  • Monitor deadlines and contract requirements to ensure compliance and document the performance management with Supply in cases where vendors do not adhere to contract terms and conditions.

Qualifications

  • A completed 2 year diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Design Technology and at least 3 years of experience, including 2 years of project management experience is required.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word) is also required.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Inventor, Solidworks, reading engineering drawings and providing final drawings will be considered assets.
  • Experience with weight distribution software would be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

Compensation: Pay Grade 10 $42.62 - 56.97 per hour

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
