Position Title: Sales Representative
Location: Vancouver, BC
Starting Minimum: $50,000 annually
Job Type: Full Time Permanent
Position Summary:
Reporting to the General Manager or their designate, the Sales Representative will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong client relationships, with a primary focus on expanding the Asian protein market in the Greater Vancouver Area. This role requires a proactive, self-motivated individual with a passion for sales and a deep understanding of cultural preferences and market dynamics within the Asian food sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow sales within the existing customer base using call sheets and structured outreach.
- Collect weekly account balances, distribute statements and credits, and ensure timely payment of invoices.
- Identify and onboard new clients following company protocols for account setup.
- Attend regular sales meetings (virtual or in-person) and participate in the annual company conference.
- Drive sales growth and improve profit margins across assigned accounts.
- Collaborate with internal teams to introduce and promote new product lines.
- Work with clients to develop weekly advertising strategies that support business growth.
- Promote specialty protein products, including “Penguin” branded items, with a focus on East Asian-style proteins.
- Stay informed on market trends, product innovations, and competitor activity; share insights with clients as part of a value-added service approach.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and commitment to achieving sales targets.
- Leverage industry knowledge and experience, particularly in working with East Asian focused supermarkets, independent retailers, and restaurants to enhance sales effectiveness.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 1 to 2 years progressive sales experience in a similar sized operation; a combination of post-secondary education and experience will also be considered.
- 1 to 3 years of related protein industry experience would be considered an asset.
- Communicate effectively in English and speaking an Eastern Asiatic language would be considered an asset to support strong client engagement and relationship-building.
- Familiarity with the East Asian protein market is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport across diverse client groups.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers, colleagues, and staff.
- Ability to work comfortably on computers.
- Self-motivated and able to work in, and outside of an office setting.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
