About the role
Bayfield Treatment Centre, a private agency that provides support to children, youth and young adults in a Family Based Care Home setting.
We are currently accepting applications for part-time Youth Support Workers for our Brampton home.
This role provides for the daily care and supervision of Bayfield's children, youth and young adults through the use of various relationship building, mentoring, teaching, conflict resolution and crisis management skills.
The essential duties and responsibilities of a Youth Support Worker:
Provide guidance and mentoring in a nurturing and supportive environment for children and young people with various special needs such as FASD, DS, PTSD, ADHD, ASD and self-harm.
Assist children, youth and young adults to reach their full potential in all aspects of their life.
Create and implement programs to increase opportunities for success in all areas of their life.
Work independently with the individuals while collaborating with the entire support team to implement individualized support plans.
All Youth Support Workers will participate in developing and implementing programs to enhance social and life skills, provide personal hygiene support, organize recreational activities and plan community outings while using consistent and positive behaviour management strategies.
Ensuring safety and security for the individuals on shifts.
Assisting with house tasks such as cleaning and maintenance of the home
Administration of medication and administrative duties as needed.
Providing support for transporting individuals to visitations as needed
Qualifications:
- A College diploma in the Social Service Worker, Developmental Service Worker or Child and Youth Worker, or other related field of study is required
- A valid Broad Record Criminal Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Current Immunization Record and TB test
- Must have valid Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
- A valid G-driver's license with a clean driving record and a safe/reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2 million liability insurance and willingness to transport clients in their vehicles – mileage is reimbursed for approve drives.
- Clear Child Welfare Background Check.
- A genuine fondness and interest in supporting children, youth and young adults to reach their potential.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to supporting individuals from diverse cultures, experiences and backgrounds.
- Basic computer/technology skills for administrative data entry.
Hours of Work
The hours of work in your position will mainly consist of evenings and every other weekend. You will be required to work at least two to three weekdays from Monday to Friday. As well, every other weekend for a minimum of at least 3 hours per shift. You may be required to do other shifts depending on the needs of the client and program. Additional shifts may be assigned based on the needs of the client and the program.
