Position Summary

Payroll Application Specialist
Your goal in this position is to work within our Payroll HRIS (Oracle HCM) system to deal with all issues affecting pay, reporting and look for areas of improvement and efficiencies. You will be a key member of the payroll department leading the complete payroll cycle processing. You have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. You also have the ability to work within a team environment or independently as required.

This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and families.

On a practical level, you will

  • Coordinate the documentation, training, and maintenance of the existing Payroll HRIS
  • Provide technical and analytical training and expertise regarding Payroll Oracle HCM
  • Collaborates with the Payroll Manager to ensure a consistent approach to system data structures and process

flow

  • Identify areas of improvement and work with the IS department to create reports to ensure compliance with

Hospital policies union agreements

  • Prepares documentation for new and existing departmental system processes
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders relating to the various systems
  • Review and update team regarding all Oracle HMC releases
  • As the subject matter expert, you will work with the vendors to troubleshoot and update user

configurations, and work with the Information Technology team on system updates

  • Analyze payroll data to ensure Input and maintain payroll data integrity in our HRIS system
  • Conducts quality assurance audits on different aspects of the various systems and reports
  • Respond to employee inquiries

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Business or other relevant subject, or equivalent experience.
  • Oracle HCM experience is required
  • Minimum 3 years’ payroll experience in a unionized environment using a computerized payroll system
  • Sound understanding of payroll data and codes
  • In-house payroll system experience preferred
  • Experience with a system implementation is an asset
  • Strong problem solving, customer relations, telephone etiquette and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience trouble shooting the configuration of a system required
  • Experience working with a payroll or HRIS system which interacts with other systems through system

interfaces required

  • Understanding of full cycle payroll processing required
