We’re Hiring!
We are currently looking to fill a full-time, permanent position for a Corporate Controller in our Accounting Department at our Leamington office.
What You'll Do:
- Assist with credit applications
- Monitoring all bank accounts on a daily basis in order to be able to report cash position to the VP of Finance
- Review monthly bank reconciliations. The month end reconciliation relies heavily on Payroll, Accounts Payable and the Purchasing department
- Maintain strong oversight and understanding of financial transactions and account activity
- On a monthly basis, provide the banks with consolidated financials of the previous month
- Communicate with the banks and provide any clarification as necessary and answer any questions regarding transactions
- All postings should be reviewed and verified that they are posted in the correct accounts
- Lead the month-end close process for Nature Fresh which includes preparing month-end reconciliations and ensuring all revenue/expenses that are posted in the correct month
- Responsible for anything financial and confidential with the government- ex. ROE’s, BDO etc.
- Manage all foreign exchange transactions. Ensure that they are all at Canadian dollars
- Cooperating with all audits, expected or not. They may include but are not limited to Payroll, WSIB, HST or Compliance
- Review payroll entries posted by the financial analyst
- Prepare and submit year end reports for government
- Ownership of the accounting software and will work with stakeholders to resolve the issues immediately
- Drive process and system improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across finance operations
- Serve stakeholders across multiple departments including Sales, Procurement, People & Culture etc.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure financial processes and reporting support business operations
- Processing wire payments, bill payments, transfers and other cash transactions through online banking
- Verifying all withdrawals from the accounts such as interest, payments etc.
- Retention of records
- Make sure that all staff are on board with new programs and utilizing them correctly
- Interview for any openings of front-end staff
- Advocate new positions if necessary
- Actively participates in hands-on employee training and follow-up to ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately; ongoing training and development may be required.
- Provide strong leadership to the accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to build capability, succession, and high performance
- Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and lead performance management processes
- Drive employee engagement and ensure effective communication within the team and across departments
- Demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism when managing complex or sensitive situations
- Comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Bio Security, and Nature Fresh Policies and Procedures.
- Be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

What You Bring:
- University degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- Strong understanding of all functions of the typical accounting department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll
- Proven people leadership experience with the ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing teams
- Must have excellent computer skills
- Multi-tasking and organization are essential
- Reading, writing, oral communication and effective listening are essential job tools
- Strong leadership, coaching and mentorship capabilities with the ability to influence and develop others
- Very strong attention to detail
- Commitment to continuous learning through courses and personal research methods
- Makes well-informed, effective and timely decisions
- Flexibility to change with new information and to adapt to changing conditions and obstacles
- Problem solving skills
- Credible, reliable and have a great ethical character
What To Expect:
- Office based role , typically 40-50 hours per week
- Monday-Friday however Saturday’s are optional or as needed.
- High level of responsibility and confidentiality in regards to both company and employee matters
- Working with various types of people in a team setting but also working independently
- Maintain a positive and open line of communication
