The Opportunity:
Probation Officer reports and assists the court in the sentencing and supervision of persons under court orders. The incumbent also acts as an agent of change in case managing the rehabilitation of offenders. The incumbent undertakes tasks germane to correctional best practices including, facilitating evidence-based programming, undertaking validated risk assessments, motivating offenders, and making referrals to other agencies and services to address offender’s criminal behaviour. This position also works closely with case managers and clients at the correctional facility and oversees inmate transitions to community supervision.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
- Recognized and accredited post-secondary degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related discipline
- Experience supervising mandated clients; i.e. offenders, motivating resistant clients to modify behaviours
- Experience in offender case management; i.e. meeting clients and collateral interviews, risk assessments, case plans, court reports, progress reports and termination summaries
- Experience in cross-cultural, high needs, high risk environment
- Experience working with offender specific risk assessments in case management will be considered an asset
Candidates who have education, training, and/or considerable experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability
Candidates should have and may be assessed on:
