Opportunity
Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee (CRDAC) is facilitating its 2026 annual Conklin Métis Culture Camp event at Wassasi Park, located 6 kilometers east of Conklin. The CRDAC is seeking to fill various temporary positions to help us facilitate this years’ camp.
Position Type/Hours
This is a temporary casual labour position working five days from Thursday, August 6 (set-up), Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9 (Culture Camp Days), and Monday, August 10 (take-down and clean kitchen, fridges, and dishes). This position will report to CRDAC’s Environmental & Events Coordinator or designee. This position is subject to source and tax deductions and will be paid on a scheduled payroll run.
Responsibilities
The Cook Aide will assist the Main Cooks in the preparation and coordination of meals for all participants at the Cultural Harvesting Camp while ensuring proper handling, cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment.
Requirements
Must have basic understanding of food preparation and safety. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have strong time management skills and work well under pressure. Ability to remain neutral in conflicts and diffuse situations in a professional and mature manner.
Working Conditions
Moderate physical demands such as standing for long periods of time will require stamina and endurance. This position requires the individual to sleep at the camp site. Sleeping arrangements will be determined.

About Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee
Conklin is a community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (“RMWB”). The community is primarily Métis people who can trace their history to the late nineteenth century. The community is recognized as a “Métis Harvesting Community” in the Government of Alberta Métis Harvesting Policy and continues to actively promote their unique Métis culture through organizations such as the Conklin Métis Local 193 (“CML #193”) and the Conklin Community Association (“CCA”).
CRDAC, a Society under the Societies Act, is a not-for-profit organization consisting of an appointed Board of Directors from the CCA and CML #193. The CRDAC Board is recognized as a policy governing board. The CRDAC is the voice of the Conklin community and a one-window interface for Government and Industry to engage with the community of Conklin on social, environmental, cultural, and economic interests.
