Location:  Mobile Position serving Stratford-Perth, Waterloo and Guelph Wellington Regions

Work Hours:  37.5 hours per week (flexible days)

Employment Type:  Full Time, Permanent

Pension Plan

Full-time employees can join our group pension plan after two consecutive years of employment. Employees contribute 5% of their gross earnings per pay, which is matched by the Y. After three consecutive years of full-time service, participation in the YMCA pension plan becomes mandatory.

What you will do…

  • Support and enhance the quality of licensed child care programs through regular training, audits, assessments, and on‑site visits.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain plans to meet or exceed quality and legislative requirements (CCEYA, Regional Quality Assessments, municipal standards, Play in Action).

  • Create, update, and support program materials such as training resources, workshops, handouts, forms, evaluations, and website content.

  • Facilitate and deliver staff training (e.g. YMCA Playing to Learn, YMCA A Place to Connect, RIRO) and provide ongoing coaching and resource support to centres.

  • Conduct centre visits (2–3 per week) beyond annual audits, documenting resources, strategies, and supports provided.

  • Meet regularly with Supervisors and the Quality & Training Manager to review assessments, action plans, and training opportunities.

  • Assist centres in developing strategies to improve quality audit scores.

  • Attend professional development workshops and staff meetings as required.

  • Support parent workshops where applicable and represent the YMCA professionally in internal and external forums.

  • Ensure compliance with YMCA safeguarding policies, identify indicators of abuse, and report concerns to Child Services.

  • Maintain confidentiality of families, staff, and personnel information.

  • Cover in program when needed in order to maintain ratios

What you will bring…

  • Early Childhood Educator Diploma and current registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).

  • 3–5 years of experience in the child care field.

  • Knowledge of CCEYA (2014), YMCA Play to Learn, A Place to Connect Curriculum, and Operating Criteria.

  • YMCA Playing to Learn and/or A Place to Connect Champion experience. Training to become a Champion will be provided to the successful candidate.

  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.

  • Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel between sites.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, and community partners.

  • Demonstrated professionalism, leadership, and commitment to YMCA mission, vision, values, and JAIDE policy.

  • Commitment to health, safety, inclusion, and high‑quality early learning experiences.

This role requires regular travel across the region, which may not always be easily accessible through public transit. The employee must be able to arrange their own transportation to these sites. A valid G driver’s license and full time vehicle access are strongly recommended.
