This posting is for TWO (2) different Job Share Opportunities, 6 weeks IN/OUT.

Fort Simpson is an indeterminate position

Fort Liard is a term position.

The Nurse in Charge oversees the delivery of nursing services at the Health Centre, ensuring high-quality, ethical, and patient-centered care.

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership & Operations: Manages staffing, scheduling, supplies, budgeting, and performance evaluations.

Quality Assurance & Training: Audits nursing care, identifies training needs, and coordinates staff development.

Advocacy & Collaboration: Promotes safe practice environments, mentors staff, and engages with community health initiatives.

Community Health Programs: Leads clinics and health promotion activities tailored to community needs.

Direct Patient Care: Provides holistic nursing care, coordinates patient transfers, and upholds patient dignity and confidentiality.

Education & Support: Develops and delivers patient and family education based on individual health needs.

Key Skills & Expertise:

Advanced clinical knowledge and ability to assess, plan, and deliver holistic care

Emergency care expertise, including suturing, venipuncture, immunizations

Proficiency in lab procedures and medical equipment

Experience in adult education and staff training

Digital literacy (Microsoft Word, email, online research)

Strong communication and patient education skills

Leadership and supervisory experience

Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice

Key Qualifications:

Completion of a Nursing Degree, and

Three (3) years of recent nursing experience and,

  • with at least one (1) year in a northern health center

A minimum of six (6) months supervisory experience

Certifications:

Current registration with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN) before commencement of employment is mandatory.
