Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Heavy Equipment Technician role based in Mannville, AB. The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles used in emergency response, environmental, and industrial operations. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and completing repairs in accordance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The role involves maintaining accurate maintenance records, collaborating with operations teams to prioritize repairs, and ensuring equipment is ready and reliable for field deployment. The technician also supports continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, recommending corrective actions, and contributing to a safe, clean, and organized shop and worksite. Qualifications Demonstrated experience working with heavy equipment, including familiarity with a range of industrial and emergency response machinery. Strong skills in equipment maintenance and vehicle maintenance, with the ability to perform routine inspections, servicing, and preventive maintenance. Proficiency in equipment repair and troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues efficiently and safely. Relevant technical training or certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician or equivalent trade qualification (e.g., journeyperson or apprenticeship in progress) is an asset. Working knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and best practices in an industrial or field-service setting. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship and safe work practices. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with operations and field teams in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work on-site in Mannville, AB, with flexibility for varying schedules, on-call work, or overtime as operational needs require.
