Home Support Assistant (HSA)
Posting Date: Wednesday, October 8, 2025
Closing Date: Wednesday, October 22, 2025 @ 12:00 NOON
Starting Rate: $19.20 hourly
Salary Range: $19.20 - $20.20 hourly
Hours of Work: Four (4) evening shifts in a two (2) week period, up to 16 hours in a two (2) week period
Status: Temporary part-time, approximately one year

The Opportunity
The Home Support Assistant is assigned to a specific area within the building to provide fire watch, and general assistance to benefit the cleanliness and overall operations of the home that can be completed within the assigned area.
What you will do
-
Transport residents to and from the dining room, onsite programs, or internal appointments
-
Clean kitchenette and staff break room, sanitize surfaces, and garbage removal
-
Unpacking and organization of supplies
-
Provide assistance with laundry sorting, folding, delivering to resident floor, assembling linen carts
-
Assist with portering residents for activities
-
Scanning and organization of documents
-
Protect the health & safety of residents, co-workers and self by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and participating in health & safety related training
-
Work co-operatively with staff, volunteers, service providers and other stakeholders to meet resident and family needs
-
Assist with scheduling needs, as required
-
Perform other duties as assigned
What you will need
-
Minimum Grade 12 education, or working toward completion
-
Previous experience and interest in working with a population of older adults is an asset
-
Good communication skills and ability to read, write and follow written instructions in English
-
Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive history of patience, compassion and courtesy when dealing with residents and others
-
Completed police record check, including vulnerable sector screening
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-
Basic computer skills
