We are accelerating our digital transformation efforts and seeking and are seeking a motivated, analytical, and customer-focused Business Systems Specialist to join our IT team in our downtown Calgary, AB office. This role will help improve the way our business systems, data, and processes work together — supporting our commitment to efficiency, modernization, and growth.
Role Overview
As a Business Systems Specialist, you will play a dual role in both supporting and improving our business systems and enhancing reporting and analytics across the organization.
You’ll assist users with daily system needs, build and refine data reports, and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to optimize system functionality, data integrity, and business performance.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for daily business system issues across multiple departments.

Configure, customize, and deploy system updates or enhancements to meet business requirements.

Build, maintain, and optimize SQL queries, views, and reports to support operational and management reporting needs.

Design and maintain dashboards and business intelligence solutions using tools such as Power BI or Excel.

Work with stakeholders to gather business requirements, document workflows, and identify areas for improvement.
-
Validate and reconcile data between systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
-
Collaborate with developers and vendors to test and deploy system updates while maintaining minimal operational disruption.

Create and maintain technical and training documentation, including data dictionaries, reporting guides, and user manuals.
-
Support the change management process by helping communicate updates, process changes, and new features to end-users.

Deliver one-on-one and group training sessions for business users.
-
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across IT and business teams by identifying process automation and enhancement opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in business systems support, configuration, or data/reporting roles.

Proficiency in SQL (queries, joins, data validation, and reporting).
-
Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.

Strong understanding of business process improvement and system optimization.
-
Experience documenting business and technical requirements, user guides, and training materials.
-
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
-
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical users.

Self-driven, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
-
Certifications such as ITIL, CBAP, or Microsoft Power BI/SQL Server considered an asset.
