About the role

Why BCAA?

Feel proud of what you do and help shape the future of BC at a BC Top Employer. We’re driven by purpose – delivering peace of mind to one in three BC households with insurance, roadside assistance, auto repair, Evo Car Share and Evolve E-Bike Share. With a long history of keeping roads safe and giving back in ways that build stronger communities, we offer a wide variety of meaningful, rewarding careers that move BC forward.

We are currently hiring a Full Stack Developer to join our Digital Technology team based in our Head Office in Burnaby.

Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office (3 on-site [T-T] / 2 remote [M & F] - fixed days). Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Head Office or are not looking to relocate to the Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley region will not be considered.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting and evolving BCAA’s marketplace platform, working across the full stack to ensure a stable, high-performing user experience. You’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to troubleshoot technical issues, implement new features, and maintain code quality across multiple environments. From diagnosing production issues to developing and testing platform enhancements, you’ll contribute to the continued growth and improvement of a platform that connects users with BCAA’s growing suite of services.

This is a great opportunity for a technically curious and detail-oriented developer who thrives in a collaborative environment. If you enjoy solving complex problems, working with modern technologies like JavaScript, ReactJS, and Node.js, and seeing your code make an impact in a real-world platform, we’d love to hear from you.

Who you are:

  • You are a technically curious developer who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, with a passion for exploring emerging technologies such as AI development and integrating them into innovative solutions.
  • You’re solutions-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • You take initiative, are proactive in resolving issues, and enjoy delivering reliable, maintainable code.
  • You’re eager to collaborate across time zones with internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver second-line technical support for the platform by proactively diagnosing and resolving application issues, ensuring minimal disruption to users and operational teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to capture feedback, troubleshoot bugs, and prioritize enhancements that align with evolving business needs.
  • Participate in designing and developing new platform features, bringing ideas to life through modern full-stack technologies and working in sync with product managers, solution architects, and vendor development teams.
  • Conduct hands-on reviews of third-party partner check-ins to uphold code quality and enforce alignment with BCAA’s internal development and security standards.
  • Develop and test integrations and customizations for BCAA’s internal systems and tools, ensuring compatibility, performance, and long-term maintainability.
  • Monitor platform performance and vendor development activity to identify potential compliance issues, and support resolution efforts when deviations are detected.
  • Contribute to release planning and documentation by preparing release notes, deployment steps, and other technical documentation that ensures smooth launches.
  • Support QA and user acceptance testing by collaborating on test scenarios, executing testing plans, and analyzing outcomes.
  • Help define and document non-functional requirements (NFRs) to support platform performance, scalability, and security.
  • Support security initiatives by preparing for pen testing, reviewing results, and helping implement fixes that align with organizational security posture.
  • Participate in after-hours deployments or on-call coverage as needed to support platform reliability and continuous improvement.

What you bring:

  • A diploma or associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience, with a demonstrated track record of excellence in previous roles. Experience within BCAA and familiarity with our products, procedures, and internal systems is a strong asset and contributes significantly to individual success in this role.
  • Experience building solutions using JavaScript, ReactJS, and Node.js.
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational database design.
  • Experience integrating and developing REST APIs and working with third-party APIs.
  • Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, SASS/LESS, Amazon Web Services, and microservices patterns.
  • Experience in Agile environments; CSM or CSPO preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cloud-native development and scalable service design.
  • Experience with testing tools and methodologies (e.g., Jest, Selenium). Strong documentation, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with Arcadier platform and plug-in development is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, AUTH0, SendGrid, Segment, etc., is an asset.

Internal Applicants: Please note that the internal posting closes on October 02, 2025 and the role is a Grade 13 position.

The salary range for this position is $91,185.84 to $113,982.36 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%.
