SUMMARY: The position of Cylindrical Grinder (Studer) is responsible for set-up and machining of hardened steel components to tight tolerances, as per outlined drawings and/or specifications using manual and CNC machines.

Please note this position is for Day Shift Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm.

SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Technician & Test Room Assistant is responsible for inspecting both plastic injection molded parts and steel components to ensure they meet quality standards and conform to company specifications. This role involves precise measurement and documentation of part dimensions, identifying any deviations from tolerances. In addition, the technician provides support to Test Room Technicians by assisting with test setups, data collection, and general test room operations. This role reports directly to the Test Room Manager.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up, program, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and vision inspection systems to perform precise dimensional inspections of plastic and metallic parts.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure components meet specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
  • Perform dimensional, functional, and visual inspections using both manual and automated systems to validate part conformity.
  • Inspect and measure plastic molded components using standard metrology equipment, including micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, pin gauges, and micro height tools.
  • Interpret part drawings and CAD models, applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles for accurate and compliant inspection tasks.
  • Import and analyze measurement data using Excel to tabulate results, identify deviations from specifications, and assess process capability.
  • Document and report deviations, variances, and non-conformances based on job sheets, inspection plans, and customer requirements.
  • Communicate inspection results and findings effectively with sales, quality, manufacturing, and engineering teams.
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance of CMMs, vision systems, and inspection tools to ensure reliability and measurement integrity.
  • Ensure inspection and test equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Support Test Technicians in the Test Room when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to health, safety, and housekeeping standards.
  • Support Inspection, measurement, and reporting activities of plastic molded components at P2 when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • Basic understanding of Coordinate Measuring methods, and knowledge of hand use measuring equipment.
  • Use of Microsoft Office, with basic working knowledge of Excel.
  • Working knowledge of measurement instruments, i.e. calipers, micrometers.
  • Use of CMM or Vision system inspection experience is desired.
