MacEwan University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Facilities Services team.
Reporting to the Grounds Supervisor, the Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible for assisting Facilities Managers, Coordinators, and Supervisors with building maintenance and operations, material handling, and custodial support, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and safe work practices.
Key responsibilities include:
Receiving and shipping goods for the university; Sorting and delivering mail, parcels, and supplies; Entering data into computer systems for tracking and reporting processes; Delivering, assembling, and repairing office equipment and furniture; Assisting with special event set up and take down; Completing room set-up for classrooms and labs; Completing facilities tasks, like installing and repairing dispensers, hanging shelves and pictures, repairing flooring, installing signs and boards, and changing locks; Performing preventive maintenance on building systems and facilities, including replacing HVAC filters, light bulbs, and ceiling tiles; cleaning and inspecting air curtains and entrance unit heaters; and maintaining mechanical room spaces. Assisting maintenance tradesman.
Skills
You will have:
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly excel; Good mechanical and practical aptitude; Good public relations skills; Effective communication skills; and The ability to take initiative and be a committed team player. The ability to perform physical tasks such as frequent lifting, bending, climbing, walking and use of heavy tools, ladders, and equipment The ability to work at heights off a ladder or man-lift.
Qualifications
A minimum of three (3) years of commercial building maintenance/operations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Position Requirements
Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License.
