About the role

Sole recruiter owning end-to-end recruiting across ~15 open roles. 6 are high-priority reqs requiring heavy outbound sourcing. 60–70% of your time is technical recruiting (backend engineers, product, design). The rest is non-technical hiring across the business. Own end-to-end recruiting across ~15 open roles, 6 high-priority Source and close technical talent — backend engineers, product, design (60–70% of time) Run 6–10 screening calls per day and manage inbound pipeline review Partner directly with founders and HMs to define roles, coordinate interviews, and close candidates Build the recruiting function from scratch — processes, AI tools, culture pitch Pitch Venn’s in-person culture in a market where most competitors offer hybrid Tools: Ashby (ATS), MetaView (meeting notes), Juicebox (sourcing), AI sourcing tools, LinkedIn. Candidate Requirements Must-Have — Experience 3–5 years full-cycle recruiting 2–3 years at a recruiting agency + 1–2 years in-house at an early-stage tech company Proven track record hiring software engineers (60–70% of this role is technical recruiting) Experience as sole/founding recruiter building the function from scratch (30–100 headcount growth) Experience at US-based or fast-paced companies (Instacart, Revolut-tier) Must-Have — Skills AI-native sourcing — actively uses AI tools to source and screen faster (not just Boolean) Heavy outbound sourcing ability (LinkedIn, Boolean, Juicebox) Experience with Ashby ATS Strong seller — can pitch in-person startup work against hybrid competitors Strong communication and candidate management Must-Have — Logistics Based in Toronto, on-site 5 days/week (Adelaide & Spadina) Comfortable as IC for 6–12 months (no immediate management) Can ramp fast — independence expected by week 2–3
