Senior Character Artist Outsource Manager

We are seeking a highly creative and motivated Senior Character Artist Outsource Manager. In this position, you will be expected to help deliver high quality character assets for the Gears of War franchise through our external partners. You will work closely with the Character Lead to help reinforce our quality bar and bring the Lead’s vision to reality.
Responsibilities

Act as a bridge between the internal character team and our external partners.

Partner with the Art Director and Lead Character Artist to understand, train, and reinforce character creation best practices, processes and art direction goals.

Assist where required in due diligence and onboarding of new external partners, as well as offboarding partners from our projects.

Actively work with the Production team to help remove roadblocks with external partners.

Promptly review work submitted by external partners, ensuring that it hits the quality standards set by our Art and Technical Directors and Leads.

Ensure that tasks assigned to our external partners in project management tools are up-to-date and are populated with the required information (e.g. overages, submission notes)

Work with the external partners to ensure that the work assigned to them is completed on time, on budget, and to the expected quality bar.

Maintain regular communication and healthy relationships with external partners. This may include being available outside of normal working hours to cover different time zones.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Visual Communications or related art field AND 2+ years experience in art design or a related art field working on computer games or entertainment

- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ of experience in video games, film/television or equivalent.
- 2+ years’ experience working with external teams.
- Good visual and technical understanding of video games character creation steps and requirements.
- Proficient in Maya, ZBrush and Adobe Substance Painter.
- Experience with Unreal Engines a big plus.
- Experience with skeleton/rig creation a plus.
- Familiarity with managing projects using project management tools (I.e. Jira, Confluence, Excel, etc.)
- Works well with deadlines, is self-motivated and directed.

Art IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $85,000 - CAD $166,800 per year.
