REGISTERED DISTRICT PSYCHOLOGIST
Wild Rose School Division is seeking the services of a qualified and experienced Psychologist for specialized assessments and consultation. The role of this position is outlined below. This position will work collaboratively with division and school teams.
This position is ongoing with an ideal start date January 26, 2026.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assists school teams to develop strategies and inclusive practices to meet diverse learning needs of students
- Develops, enhances, and supports implementation of the mental health programs in the Division
- Supports schools with severe behaviours and social emotional challenges by providing recommendations for functional strategies
- Facilitates High Risk and Violent Threat Risk Assessments when necessary and invites the required multidisciplinary team members to the table to ensure risk is properly assessed and mitigated
- Employs a variety of psychological approaches, instructional techniques, interventions, and strategies to support students and families
- Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary and school teams
- Supervises and provides clinical support and supervision of the Family Wellness Workers and like roles (connection coaches, Family Wellness Worker Assistants, etc) as well as the AIM for Success program
- Supports school leaders in their work of providing safe, caring, warm, welcoming and caring environments
- Provide professional development to school staff
- Support and co-lead with superintendent or designate for critical incidents
- Collaborate regarding vision building within the school division and with the educational services team
- Work collaboratively with early education, kindergarten, and multidisciplinary team staff regarding PUF and ECS severe coding of students
- Support and/or complete normed assessments (e.g., Raven’s, Vineland, BASC-3) to guide programming for students
- Support schools in actualizing their strategic plans
- Collaborative team member from leadership to participation
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree - Educational Psychology preferred
- Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP)
- Knowledge of and adherence to the Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists, CAP Standards of Practice and CAP Practice Guidelines
- Graduate training and clinical experience in assessing and diagnosing emotional, behavioral and learning difficulties
- Experience conducting and interpreting standardized assessments
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, written, analytical and time management skills
- Experience working with pre-school and school-aged population
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to establish high levels of trust and rapport with families, administration, WRSD staff, and other agencies
- Strong collaboration, facilitation, problem solving, assessment and analytical skills;Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate highly technical information to a varied group of stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel to different schools in WRSD
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, written, analytical and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively as a member of an multidisciplinary team
